Since Thursday, we have been watching an American Eagle's nest webcam on the internet - broadcasting LIVE from Decorah, IA. We've discovered that Mommy and Sydney like to watch "BIRD". (Daddy thinks it is rather interesting as well.)
At one point this earlier today, Sydney said "Bird" and started making kissing sounds with his lips. I was puzzled at first, but soon realized after he kept doing it over and over - while pointing at the computer - that he wanted to give the bird a kiss, like he does when we use Skype. (So, 22 month old Sydney thinks that he kissed the eagle today and he was happy.)
At naptime and bedtime, he peeks into the office, waves at the computer and announces "BYE BIRD!" (He's said the word BYE just a handful of times now... it is new this past week or so!)
What a kid!
I especially like when the parents "trade places" to sit on the nest or when they will stand up to nuzzle the three eggs with their beak. I like that you can hear a faint "cheap, cheap" chirping sound coming from the eggs. (The first of the three eggs is forecasted to hatch any day now.)
It is VERY COOL to watch! Check it out:
