Trick or Treat 2014

 

It was a cold, blustery day... according to the iPad, the perceived temperature around noon was 19°F. (Real temperature was near freezing, but the wind was BITTER COLD!!!)

The boys trick-or-treated at THREE HOUSES before retreating back into the warmth of Grandpa's house where it was MUCH MORE EXCITING to run to the door whenever they heard the doorbell, checking out all of the costumes.

Friends Jon and Donna gave them each a special treat bag for Halloween. (Our neighbors, Frank and Bev, did the same thing!) There are PLENTY of people who think these two are pretty special little guys.

In the evening, Mike found out that the Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes are sold separately. He thought they were a pair and has asked that I NOT tell him how much they costed. ;)

Honestly, I haven't dressed up for Halloween since I worked at the grocery store when I was in high school. It as kind of fun (and fitting) to be Thing 2.

Seriously, I mustache, what IS your Favorite Part of the Day? *must ask

Oh, Nana... your Halloween box was LOTS of fun! The boys opened it last night with our babysitter, Emily, while I was at a Copaxone drug dinner. Sorry we didn't get a chance to formally THANK YOU last night. Glad we had an opportunity to Skype tonight at bedtime.

We kept moving the mustaches.... sometimes they were eyebrows, sometimes a mustache, sometimes a goatee, sometimes a beard, sometimes hairy toes!

Sydney wouldn't wear his teeth INSIDE his upper lip, but they were still pretty funny. Silas was a good sport with them.

The fun, the laughs, the family connectedness.... THIS was my favorite part of the day!

Silas said that HIS favorite part of the day was his Halloween party at school. He was a firefighter.

Silas adores Mrs. Pat; she was a ladybug today!

That poor teacher who taught Sydney's three year old class, 

Mrs. Julie, MUST suffer from deja vu...

because SYDNEY was a firefighter, too... when he was in her class!

Sydney said that HIS favorite part of his day was SCHOOL!

(But specified... NOT church!)

Off the chart!

At breakfast, Sydney proudly announced that he was "off the chart" at school.

He followed it up with saying he was going to dump a bowl of cereal over his head. So much for listening and smart choices...

VAC Day Seven

A lunch date with Great Grandma Mahoney and Nana Olson. 

We brought Culvers to Riverview Manor for lunch.

A visit at Aunt Sue & Uncle Willy's house. This time, we got to see Kristen, AvaLynn and Willy. (Earlier in the day, we got a visit from Abigail, Sue and Rachel.) Got to see EVERYONE!!!

Kristen proved to us that the 1/16 tiny violin DOES make music. 

She played us a few songs.

The kids all wanted to try it, too. FUN!

FUN WITH COUSINS!!!

Silly sisters. Silly brothers. MAY BABIES.

At home, we delivered the tiny violins to Emily's house. Grandpa Lowell was in town for a seminar today. He entertained the boys for an hour or so while Mike and I checked out TOY LAND at the brand new Farm & Fleet store. After dinner, we cooked marshmallows in a campfire. FAMILY FUN!

And then, reality hit... Mike goes back to work... TOMORROW! :(
