I want to remember...
Tiny hands, signing I LOVE YOU in sign language.
Kisses that get rubbed in, not wiped off.
Butterfly kisses.
PB & Nutella sandwiches cut into four teeny tiny rectangles for Sydney and cut into two small triangles and one large triangle for Silas.
The best hugs in the morning!
Tears in my eyes as THEY start to read TO US!
Turkey feather hair.
The way Silas says bull-da-BO-zee instead of bulldozer.
The way both boys say AMinal instead of animal.
How cringe-worthy it is when little boys hold onto the toilet seat while peeing, instead of putting it up and touching it as minimally as possible.
How my boys go to great lengths to get out of a bathroom without touching a door handle, but have no qualms with licking handrails and handles (or putting the ALDI cart strap into their mouths.)
Giggles.
The way that Silas insists upon a purple vitamin (flintstone) and how sometimes his brother is nice enough to save one for his brother.
The undeniable love a mother can feel towards her children.

Looks great in colors OTHER THAN BLUE
Child-free shopping trip to Kohl's on Sunday resulted in new dress shoes, dress pants, two dress shirts and two ties.
Today's (interview) selection is coral and I'm pleased to report: he cleans up well, looking great in colors OTHER THAN BLUE!
Our fingers are crossed for you.
Hoping for a better life and a happier family.

I get to spend my summer days with these two!
We had hoped to bike trailer down to the library and the pharmacy today, but threat of scattered showers thwarted that plan from coming to action. The boys were playing SO NICELY this morning. I spent a lot of time on the phone with the insurance company. (Mike is having an eye procedure done on Friday that SHOULD be covered medically. Plus, we are about $60 away from meeting our family deductible for the year - and have an allergy appointment for Sydney later this week, too, as well as my yearly appointment in a few weeks.)
I also got a phone call from the school (pictured behind us) to come for an interview on Thursday morning after Sydney's allergy appointment.
Seriously, the crosswalk for the school is IN our front yard. Shortest commute to school EVER!!!
My happy heart is overflowing with love.
We're pending a home inspection this week and appears that the house will close quickly.
Mike has new job interview clothes and will look SO HANDSOME! He has TWO interviews this week... Tuesday am and Wednesday am.
I slept next to my husband in our mattress last night and it slept great. I'm looking forward to removing my 3/4 sized mattress from the bedroom floor.
We are surrounded by family and friends.
Our hearts are happy here.
{Love.}

Head wounds bleed profusely
Silas screamed in pain. Mike and I wondered what happened this time.
"Sydney!" we yelled in unison, accusing him of SOMETHING. "What happened to your brother?" (The two of them are best friends and worst enemies; they both attempt to get under the other's skin.)
"I don't know. Really... I don't. I think he kicked himself or something."
"How do you kick YOURSELF?" we wondered.
Moments later, I walked into the room to see Mike's cheek smeared with blood, his shirt stained with blood and Silas with a colorful sticky mass of bloody hair.
"Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" I chanted.
"See," Mike whispered into his ear "I told you Mommy was going to freak out as soon as she saw you!"
After a few minutes, we convinced Silas to shower so that we could SEE what we were contending with. Turns out, he has a small cut on his head. Our best guess says that the source of the cut was a Christmas power supply box that Silas had attempted to fling at his brother, but whacked himself in the head instead. OUCH!
Silas freaked out in the shower when he saw the bloody water running by his feet. Eventually, we got him cleaned up and ready to go for our picnic and SAY GOODBYE TO SYDNEY PARTY with the classmates at school.
Our neighbors, parents of two small children, were nice enough to give us a dose of children's ibuprofen for Silas and his pending headache.
Hoping he learned his lesson. Many more bumps to come... Mike always reminds me: BOYS GET BUMPS!

four year vocabulary includes CONTRAPTION
Used correctly by four year old Silas:
Hey, you're going to wreck my contraption!
(As mommy untied all of the bedding from the hallway railing)

It's really NOT all that complicated (triangle)
Silas entertained himself with a napkin last night during his bedtime snack (Drumstick ice cream treat).
"Well, would you look at that!" he announced, starting at his paper napkin. "This napkin is a diamond! ...and if I rotate it a tiny, little bit, it is a square. Don't you see that? Isn't that amazing?"
"You've got a pretty smart brain Silas! That IS pretty amazing!" I replied.
"Now, if I just do this... WAIT, don't watch... you'll see something else I can do with it." he announced as he performed some origami moves on his blue flowered napkin. "You see... NOW it is a triangle!"
Smiling, he held up his new triangle shaped napkin. "It's really NOT all that complicated." he informed me.
Oh, Silas... It is SO HARD TO REMEMBER that you JUST turned FOUR!!!!
