This morning, Sydney INSISTED upon feeding himself oatmeal with a spoon. Mostly, he would dip the spoon into the oatmeal and shovel a near-empty spoon into his mouth sideways. Sometimes, at the last minute, the oatmeal would slide off of the spoon and onto his shirt, tray or lap.
Mr. Independent is starting to want whatever we have, as well as wanting to attempt doing almost everything himself. He also discovered within the past few days that he likes to stab at his food with his plastic baby fork and feed himself. We often do this with pieces of avocado, but discovered that cantaloupe also worked well.
If I thought that feeding him took a long time before... allowing him to feed himself (and guarantee adequate nutrition) will take EVEN LONGER!
He also LOVES to feed himself fresh raspberries. (Those are one of his FAVORITE THINGS!)
NOTE: The battle wounds on his eye... that is from his dive into the sandbox on Sunday afternoon. Poor little guy.... OUCH!
We had a rather rough night with Sydney in the early morning hours this morning. He woke up fussy, which is NOT his true nature. Yesterday, we noticed that tooth #7 poked through his gumline. (Another one for his lower left jaw.) #7 may have something to do with the new batch of slightly-fussy; all in all, he is SUCH a good baby!!!
