L...L...L... Wait! Where'd the R go?

It seems like FOREVER that we have been trying to get five year old Sydney, who sounds a lot like Elmer Fudd, to say the L sound.

Lucy licks a lemon lollipop and likes it a lot.
Leaping lizards.
Lucky Lenny likes licking limes.

Wucy wicks a wemon wowwipop and wikes it a wot.
Weaping wizards.
Wucky Wenny wikes wicking wimes.

Sydney, say SiLas!
Si-Wess!

And now... All of a sudden... Sydney says L words FANTASTICALLY!!!

HOWEVER, his R letters sounds have oddly transformed into L's and we are constantly reminding him "there's no L in bread."

During our drive from Walmart to Menards, the boys discussed that apple fritters don't have sprinkles or frosting.... but it sounded more like this:

Silas, apple fLitters don't have spLinkles or fLosting.

A few days ago, we were doing Sydney's homework and spelling words that started with certain sounds. At one point, I had to giggle at his conversation:

Mommy, you are like an air compLessor when you said that word because you splatter out lots of air!

Sydney thought that the T -sound (when sounding out A-N-T) made me sound like an air compressor.

Now, if you don't mind, I have to go help Sydney tape his piece of paper to the fLont window to supLise gWampa Lowell and then, help him to staple his fLont cover onto the special book he is making.
