How to make a snowman... with a toddler

Below are a few pictures - documenting our process. Sydney is 2.5 years old and LOVES to make projects with mommy! (We learned today that he REALLY likes rubber cement, likely because of the paintbrush inside!)

Trace a can for a large circle template.

Use a marker to decorate the "stick" arms.

Decide where you want your buttons.

Glue on your buttons.

Rubber cement to hold the hat on his head.

Rubber cement a strip of colored paper onto the hat.

Pose for pictures - using a self-timer.

Admire your work.

The final product.

SUPPLIES:

Empty baby "PUFFS" bottle, black marker, kraft colored cardstock (arms), black cardstock (hat, mouth, eyes) white cardstock (whites of eyes), orange cardstock (carrot nose, color strip on hat), blue cardstock (buttons), scrap ribbon (scarf), scissors, pen/pencil, ordinary handheld hole punch, circle punch, rubber cement, cans from your pantry for circle template,

DIRECTIONS: Empty bottle of puffs. Color sides of lid with black magic marker; let dry. Trace lid onto black cardstock for top of hat; cut out. Raid your pantry... Trace a larger can for bottom circle of hat; cut out. Cut strip of black paper at desired size to make cylinder shape of hat; tape and/or glue. (I used a Pampered Chef biscuit cutter to help hold mine together while the glue dried.) Punch 2 large black circles for eyes, 2 small white circles for eyes, a handful of small black circles for a mouth and a triangle wedge for a nose. (Decorate with pen, if desired.) Freehand draw arms, cut out, trace edges with black marker and decorate to look like STICK ARMS. (We folded an edge over and taped it to the body, but you could probably cut a slit in the body of the snowman and slide it inside of that.) Adhere arms to snowman; we used tape. Tie ribbon scarf onto snowman where desired. Rubber cement paper pieces onto snowman (eyes, nose, mouth, buttons). Rubber cement large circle to lid top. Rubber cement color hat strip to hat cylinder. (Again, I used my Pampered Chef Biscuit cutter to hold it together while drying.) Tape cylinder to lid top from inside. (We stuffed our hat with Kleenex and paper towel and added a little rubber cement to the top of that so that the top of the hat had something to stick to.) Rubber cement top of hat in place. Then, marvel at how much fun you had with your toddler/child and how awesome your snowman is!
